2024 Civil Society Forum on Migration and Development

All road led to Wells Carlton Hotel, Asokoro, Abuja, Nigeria on Tuesday December 11, as actors in the Civil Society space converged at the 2024 Civil Society Forum .

At the invitation of Civil Society Network on Migration and Development (CSO NetMade), WOTCLEF Executive Director, Imaobong Ladipo Sanusi, was selected as a panelist to discuss the Lack of recognition of grassroots dynamics in reintegration policies and minimal involvement of Non State Actors in bilateral and multilateral agreements

Statistics show that migration shapes development and is irreplaceable component as Migrants spend 85% of their earnings in country of destinations and 15% in country of origin.

Data show that 160 million labour Migrants shape economy and labour force . The lack of recognition of grassroots dynamics in reintegration policies and the minimal involvement of Non State Actors in bilateral and multilateral agreements were some of the issues discussed. A whole of government and society approaches through “actors, process and instrument, remain the best option, knowing that migration remains a human right” Imaobong submitted.
