Performing Arts: a tool for Social Transformation, new partnership opens  for WOTCLEF at Pacesetter College, Guzape, Abuja

WOTCLEF Executive Director, was invited by Pacesetter College, Guzape, Abuja as a guest speaker for the school’s 2025 Theatre Day Event themed “Performing Arts: A Tool for Social Transformation, on Thursday March 20, at the school’s premises.

With a stage adaptation of the play ‘The Trafficked Victims’ written by Anthonia Okoro, word for word, line by line, the students put up a brilliant performance that held the audience bound despite the scouring afternoon heat.

Anthonia Okoro’s, dramatically exposes the deceptive strategies used by traffickers, the false hopes of victims, and the harsh realities they ultimately face. The play highlights the urgent need for awareness, vigilance, and collective action to combat human trafficking.

As the final curtains fell, the cast took a bow off the stage, with a resounding applause following the show with almost nothing justify to be said.

Next was the Director General of NAPTIP ‘s talk and she was represented by
Arikpo Jessica, the
Assistant Director of Intelligence from the
Public Enlightenment Department, alongside the Agency’s team distributing Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Materials.

The Director General’s representative with a note of caution, explained that aside the external trafficking depicted on stage, “internal trafficking and new online methods of exploiting humans abound”.

WOTCLEF’s Executive Director, Imaobong Ladipo Sanusi, in her speech exposed the criminality of human trafficking, called on the school authorities, parents and students to symbollically take action to stop the menace by giving a red card to Human Trafficking.

“Everything about the Trafficker and Human Trafficking is about exploitations for sex, labour and organ harvest both online and physically regardless the geographical area, or race”, Sanusi explained.

Highlights of the event included spoken words, musical performances, dance, choreography, goodwill messages, talks from the representative of the Nigerian Women Trust Fund
and the Legal Luminaries.

Earlier, the Chairman of the School, Bar. Kenneth Imansuangbon and the Principal Mr. Simeon Sechivir Isahar in their remarks appreciated WOTCLEF’s presence while also extolling the efforts of the Founder Her Excellency Chief (Mrs) Titi Atiku Abubakar since inception of the Non Governmental Organisation 25 years ago.

As WOTCLEF and Pacesetter College Guzape activate partnership on the formal’s thematic areas, it is interesting to note that Pacesetter College has four schools in Abuja situated at Guzape, Gwarimpa, Wuse and Wuye.
