The commemoration of 2024 16 days of activism against gender based violence in Nigeria began on November 25 in Abuja with the 19 European Union Ambassadors/Heads of Mission represented in Nigeria hosting a breakfast meeting with invited small group of women leaders, heads of organizations.
With the theme of 2024 “Time to Act”, as a stakeholder in this effort, the Head of Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation, (WOTCLEF) had the opportunity to discuss the challenges, best practices, lessons learned, and prospects in the fight against gender based violence and advise the EU Ambassadors on how they can further support this very important cause.
Speaking at the occasion held at Transcorp Hilton Abuja, the Arrow Head of WOTCLEF while emphasizing the essence of Trauma Informed Care, Victim identification, sustainable support, explained the burden of caregiving, welfare, security of Care Givers in the service provision space especially regarding sheltering. Imaobong Ladipo Sanusi, with refrence to a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) such as WOTCLEF with Staff, Volunteers and Field Representatives in line with to current realities and experiences during interventions and reintegration of victims from India , Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Ghana and some Internal trafficking, aligned with other speakers that the security, wellbeing and welfare of Care Givers is essential because they are not robots but humans who are risking their lives as frontliners.
